I created a class called Poses, Pens + Inner Peace that combines yoga, mediation and writing. Each Friday I will share a prompt and my writing that emerged from class.
Theme: Inner light
Take a moment to center yourself. Find a comfortable seat. take a few deep breaths. Picture your inner light. Where does it reside? Your heart? Solar plexus? Connect with it. Feel it. Breathe into it. Read the words above by Amanda Gorman.
Prompt: There is always light...
Write for 7 minutes without lifting your pen from the page. And I do recommend writing by hand.
There is always light even in, or especially in the darkest of times. Remember, light cannot exist without dark.
When it feels the darkest, whether because of the season or challenges in your life or the world, there is always light. Bring light into your home—candlelight, firelight, twinkle lights, holiday lights.
Connect with your own inner light through gratitude, kindness, hope + joy.
Share that light with those close to you.
Share that light with the world.
Let your light illuminate the darkness rather than letting the darkness consume your light.
There is always light if we are brave enough to remember it is there, if we are brave enough to shine it out, letting it illuminate our path. letting it light the path for others.
Shine that inner light so others can see + connect with their own light.
There is always light when we allow ourselves to be truly authentic. When we let ourselves be truly seen. No more hiding in the shadows. Shadows—yet another thing that can't exist without light.
With each word I write, I shine a light into the dark recesses of my psyche, bringing what was hidden out into the light. Bringing the pieces of me that were hidden out into the light.
